Defining a new normal in the post-COVID era

At the time of writing this, we’re nearing the end of 2020. For as much negativity is arbitrarily attributed to an ambivalent year itself, it seems fitting that a vaccine for COVID-19 is around the corner in 2021. Before we know it, life will return to normal.

We’ll be able to go out in public without masks again. We’ll be able to enjoy time with our friends in person instead of over Zoom or Among Us. We’ll fall back into the old routines that defined our daily lives.

Sounds good, right? Well, to us, most of it does. However, there are some changes to what should be considered normal once life picks back up after the pandemic.

Redefining normal after the pandemic

A lot of what we consider normal in life we maybe shouldn’t consider normal anymore. For example, when you go to the store downtown and see a homeless person begging for spare change, it probably feels normal to see them there.

When you hear bad news about a shooting or a suicide, it probably feels normal.

When you engage in bad habits like drinking too much, smoking or viewing pornography, it probably feels normal.

What if we said none of this should be normal?

We want to challenge you to examine your life and redefine what normal looks like for you. No one is expecting you to change the world overnight and solve the homeless problem. But you can start taking measures to make healthier, more positive decisions in your personal life. As you grow into a healthier person and it becomes your new normal, your life can make more of a positive impact on others.

Imagine if we all had this type of approach how wonderful the world would be. Well, why not give it a shot? It won’t be easy, but if you’re willing to try, we’re willing to try with you.

Centerpoint Church is ready to walk with you on your faith journey

At Centerpoint, our community believes in purpose and passion, and we would love to walk with you on your journey in finding yours. We are currently going through a new sermon series titled “To Hell With Normal.” It’s all about redefining what we consider normal in life as we seek to make our lives more like the way Jesus would have them to be.

Do you want to grow in your faith or are simply curious about who this Jesus guy is? You’re not alone. We encourage you to listen to our series online and welcome you to come to one of our Sunday morning services in Valrico, Florida.
