5 blogs to follow to learn more about Christian mental health
A deep passion of Centerpoint is to minister to and alongside Christians who struggle with mental health. We have felt the effects of mental illness in our families and in our gathering. As a result, you’ll often find articles on our site shining a spotlight on anxiety, depression and suicide ideation that are part of our strategic method to breakdown the stigmas and provide true and lasting hope to those who struggle and to their loved ones who are walking with them.
Our mental health resources include counseling services at our south campus in addition to articles and our sermon series. To branch out further, search the following blogs.
5 mental health blogs worth your time
The Mind & Soul Foundation is working to educate, equip and encourage the Christian community regarding mental health. This online resource is made up of the combined efforts of a psychologist, a priest and a psychiatrist. Together, the team brings a powerful message that declares both the emotional and mental health of Christians are vital. This team is bridging the gap between the church and psychology.
Anthem of Hope is raising awareness, growing community and providing resources in the mental health arena. They are a “faith-centered organization dedicated to amplifying hope for those battling brokenness, depression, anxiety, self-harm, addiction and suicide.” The site was founded by couple Jarrid and Juli WIlson to help equip churches with the ability to better assist those who are struggling.
Mental Health Grace Alliance is working to empower the church to love well. This non-profit has created mental health care and support systems for churches to implement. A pairing of faith and science has resulted in resources and training that are meant to be paired with professional therapy (not in replacement of). The blog covers depression, anxiety, family mental health, student mental health, Christianity and mental health, and provides mental health tools.
At The Mighty, individuals share their personal struggles with mental health. Many of the stories you will find there share the shame that has been felt at church. But, some stories also share the redeeming healing found in faith. While not a faith-based site, it does give us each a glimpse behind the curtain. Learning to sit with hard stories that we may not be exposed to on a daily basis helps us build empathy and acquire the necessary tools for when a loved one sits across from us and says, “I am struggling with something.” Check out The Mighty to be better prepared with empathy and understanding in those moments.
Unfiltered Radio is an outreach of Centerpoint Church that is working to spread the love and grace of Jesus to a larger audience beyond our church walls. The blogs and podcasts shared there dive into the Christian faith and mental health topics. It is a safe place to ask hard questions of faith and learn to relate to one another.
At Centerpoint, we are breaking down every barrier that keeps people from the love of God. We don’t shy away from the hard questions. No matter where you are in your faith journey, you are welcome to join us!
