Struggling with my faith in God

It is normal and it is OKto struggle with your faith in God. This sounds counterproductive, but lean in for a second and really hear me. Doubt leads to questions, questions lead to exploration and exploration leads to greater understanding. To get from where you are today to a stronger more mature faith, you have to make room for the questions.

When we hold on to cliched answers like “Just believe” or “Because the Bible says so,” we are doing ourselves and God a disservice. God created us with curiosity, with intelligence and with minds. In fact, we are told to love God with our whole mind (see Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30 and Luke 10:27), not just a portion of it. Jesus didn’t say, “Just have faith because I said it.” Instead, He showed His disciples why they could trust and believe Him. He gave them proof He was who He claimed to be. He even let Thomas touch the nail holes in His hands for confirmation (John 20:24-29).

Often the reason we don’t ask questions is that we are afraid of what it will do to our faith. I want you to know your God is bigger than that. Don’t stagnate in your faith because you’re afraid the Creator of everything can not handle your question.

Church, we have got to be intellectually honest. God did not ask us to lose our minds to follow Him. He told us He wanted all of us, our heart, our soul and our mind. Stop allowing yourself or others to put limits on your pursuit of Jesus.

If you are questioning whether you were called to be all-in for Jesus (mind, heart and soul), take a quick look at Kat Armstrong’s newly released book, "No More Holding Back." God isn’t asking for mindless service; He is asking for all of you.
